SPRINGBANK Longrow 21 Years Old Scotch Peated Campbeltown Single Malt

Longrow, a heavily peated single malt whisky, was first distilled in 1973 at Springbank distillery, one of three types produced there. They fill fewer than 150 barrels of Longrow each year. In 2022, they released Longrow 21, which is a blend of 60% ex-sherry cask, 30% ex-bourbon barrel, and 10% ex-Chardonnay cask whisky, bottled without chill filtration or added color, with an alcohol content of 92 proof.

Upon smelling it, one can immediately detect the distinctive Springbank industrial notes, reminiscent of diesel fumes, machine oil, and damp soil, complemented by blackberries and a hint of toasted marshmallow. The taste begins with a rich mixture of blackberries and plums, transitioning to the flavors of greasy bacon and toasted nuts. The finish is long, sweet, and smoky, with hints of creme brulee, wood smoke, and tannic red wine.
