Espero Balboa is a rum produced in the Dominican Republic and Barbados. Its name Espero means hope in Spanish. The name Ron Espero Balboa refers to the famous Spanish explorer and conqueror Vasco Nunez de Balboa from the 16th century.
The special feature of this rum lies in its ageing process. The rum is first stored in bourbon barrels before being transferred to oak barrels. This ageing process lasts 8 to 12 years and is carried out using the solera method, a traditional method of blending and ageing spirits.
This process allows the rum to develop its characteristic taste and quality.
