The Ron Abuelo Anejo XII Anos TWO OAKS Double Matured is a 12 year old rum with double barrel maturation.
After many years of ageing in specially selected ex-bourbon barrels, the rum is aged on specially toasted American oak.
The special feature of the second barrel is that it is first toasted for 60 minutes at 180C to open the wooden structure.
It is then fired at 220C, creating a 7 to 8 mm thick porous carbon layer. – This gives the TWO OAKS its softness and mild smoky taste.
