Sourced from a 1981 vineyard 30km north of Clanwilliam, 20 months in first fill Austrian oak foudre.

These grapes are from a farm in the hills north west of Clanwilliam. Red sandy soils and struggling vines, battling for survival. But grapes, like most other living things, tend to be at their strongest when they are fighting for survival.

The 2017 vintage is for my money the best vintage Ive encountered in my 23 years of making wine. Every year I would strive to make a balanced wine, but in 2017 there was a natural balance that came out of the vineyard. It sounds all very hocus pocus and dont ask me to explain it, but thats the way it was. Enjoy now or over the next 20 years.
