The cotton mill closed in 1965, but its prime location and access to fresh water made it the perfect location for a whiskey distillery. Today, Deanston is still the heart of the community and crafts artisan single malt Scotch whiskies using traditional Scottish ingredients and distillation techniques. Its abundant access to fresh water and practice of aging in Kentucky-made oak barrels give the whiskies the sweet, honeyed flavors for which the brand is known.
