Around the 1840s, the pharmacist Albert Heinrich was not only allowed to open a pharmacy but also to produce alcohol.
The A.H. Riise Royal Danish Navy Strength represents the relationship between the Danish Navy and A.H. Riise.
In addition to the usual pay, the sailors used to receive rum as a reward. To prevent anyone from giving them stretched rum, they used gunpowder to control the alcohol content of the rum.
They doused the gunpowder with rum and tried to light it; if it burned, the rum was pure and not stiffened.
Danish Navy Strength consists of various rum distillates that are up to 20 years old. The pot still process gives it its dark colour. It is blended by hand in small quantities and is not cold-filtered.
