ANTINORI SOLAIA 20 WD

Tenuta Tignanello is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico production area, on the hillsides nestled between the Greve and Pesa valleys. The estate extends over an area of 319 hectares (788 acres) of which 130 hectares (321 acres) are planted with vines. Grape varieties grown are principally the native Sangiovese berry along with other non-traditional varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Marchese Antinori is a historic Riserva wine from the Antinori family’s cellars, crafted to represent the fullest expression of quality and elegance of Chianti Classico in this unique territory. The Solaia vineyard extends over an area of approximately 20 hectares (49 acres) at an altitude between 350 and 400 meters above sea level (1148-1312 feet), facing south-west, on calcareous rocky soils rich in Alberese (rocky, clay and limestone) and Galestro (marl of limestone and sandstone) located on the Tenuta Tignanello estate. The Antinori family produced this wine for the first time with the 1978 vintage. Solaia is only made in exceptional vintages and was not produced in 1980, 1981, 1983, 1984 and 1992.

Tasting Notes:
Solaia 2020 is ruby red in color. Exceptional intensity and complexity on the nose: notes of wild berries, especially blueberries, raspberries and currants that intermingle with sweet hints of plums, black cherries and fresh impressions of mint, myrtle, licorice, and floral nuances of lavender. The rich bouquet is completed by sweet well-integrated notes of cocoa powder and dried fruit that follow over to spicy hints of cloves and pleasant impressions of pink pepper.
